Pet Odor Treatments
Make
"accidents" a distant memory!
Owners
of even the best-trained pets will
occasionally encounter pet accidents.
Often, urine or vomit is not discovered
until long after an accident occurs.
According to the Carpet and Rug Institute,
pet urine, left unattended, can damage
carpet in several ways. Moisture can
weaken the layers of the carpet, allowing
separation or de-lamination of the
backing material. Seam areas can be
particularly damaged and can separate.
If caught
early, our Q12 carpet cleaning system
often neutralizes recent pet accidents.
If urine has penetrated the carpet
backing, QCare has specialized treatments
that will neutralize odor-causing
bacteria and minimize (and often eliminate)
the appearance of stains.
Why
does QCare have multiple treatments?
Just
as no two pets are exactly alike,
neither is their urine. Urine content
will change over the pet's life due
to diet, medications, age, health,
sex, and reproductive cycles. Differences
in ph levels and chemistry can have
different effects on carpet, making
different treatments necessary.
Urine
can affect the dyes used in carpet,
although not all occurrences will
result in a permanent stain. Success
is dependent upon the content of the
urine, the dyes and finish used, and
the time elapsed after the deposit.
Some urine spots may be immediately
noticeable, while others may take
weeks or months for a reaction. The
dyes may change color immediately
after contact with urine.
When urine
spots develop slowly and are noticed
after much time has elapsed, the dyes
and carpet fibers may be permanently
damaged. In beige carpet, blue dyes
are attacked by pet urine, leaving
behind the red and yellow dyes with
a resulting stain appearing red, yellow,
or orange.
Another
problem, especially with cats, is
odor. Unless the cat urine
can be completely removed, complete
odor removal is unlikely. A number
of products are available to combat
odor, but may simply mask the odor,
and, in times of high humidity, the
odor may reappear. QCare uses enzymes
and other solutions that effectively
bond with the cat urine and allow
it to be removed.

Stain Treatments
Renewing
carpets to pre-spot splendor
Let’s
face it ... no matter how careful
you are, accidents happen. While most
spots are removed by our Q12 cleaning
system, some spots require special
care due to the chemistry of the substance
spilled. Some substances will create
a non-removable stain, but even then
QCare can usually treat the stain
to bring the appearance to an acceptable
level. Our technicians have been trained
to identify many types of spots and
stains and thus are able to provide
the best treatment.
Spots
vs. Stains
Spots are substances
that can be treated and completely
removed. These substances don’t penetrate
the carpet backing, don't dye or remove
color from the carpet, nor damage
the carpet like a burn, bleach, tear,
or hole. Common spot makers are lipstick,
grape jelly, and other food substances.
Stains
permanently alter the carpet because
the substance has permanently altered
the texture, appearance or color of
the carpet fiber and cannot be completely
removed. If a substance such as blood,
egg, vomit, mustard or milk has stained
the carpet, QCare technicians can
employ restorative treatments that
often reduce their appearance to an
acceptable level, but may not completely
remove them.
Some substances
can damage or contaminate
your carpet. Damage occurs when the
construction of the carpet is altered.
This includes burns, tears, bleaching,
and holes. When carpet is damaged,
QCare restoration efforts can generally
minimize the appearance of damage,
but may not restore your carpet to
its pre-damaged state. Some substances
like feces, urine, and blood contaminate
your carpet and create an unhealthy
environment for your family. Contaminated
carpet always requires special care
and should be shown to the QCare technicians
prior to cleaning.

Carpet Stretching
Carpet that has been improperly installed
can form "ripples" or "wrinkles"
over time. Special power-stretching
equipment is needed in order to correctly
re-stretch the carpet to its original
position and prevent further premature
wear on the carpet. QCare has highly
trained technicians that can perform
carpet stretching using the recommended
method and equipment to correct improper
installations. We always guarantee
our carpet stretching services for
one full year.
